Apple warns of counterfeit iPods
Apple has reportedly begun notifying its service partners of illegally manufactured digital audio players designed to closely resemble iPods. The counterfeit devices, usually imitations of the iPod nano and iPod shuffle, have strikingly similar designs but lack features such as a dock connector, functioning click wheel, and Apple operating system. Apple said the counterfeit iPods can be sold in very Apple-like product packaging and sometimes even come stamped with Apple logos and valid Apple serial numbers.

I believe the person who said the black one was real, because it looked just like his was being sarcastic as well.

If anyone is actually stupid enough to buy one of those fakes, they deserve it.

All these people are complaining on how the black one is soooooo fake. But what if the company that made the fake one was trying to make an Mp3 player that would fool people into thinkinf it actually was an iPod, without apple killing them… They could really be brilliant…Except the fact that theirs is really lame…

Sarcasm—or more precisely, the understanding of it—is such a lost and underdeveloped skill…particularly on the internet when one has to deal with so many teens.

I think you’re all being a bit harsh with your ‘if you can’t tell which one is a fake you’re an idiot and you deserve it’ comments. To us.. iPod owners, yes… we WOUULD know the difference.
But there are a LOT of iPods bought as gifts for people by partners, parents, children… people who may not have ever seen an iPod in their lives, only heard about them.
And if they saw something like this? (which by the way if it was in an official looking Apple box they wouldnt see it) and they were being sold AS iPods… then they WOULD buy it.
We can tell the difference… but then these aren’t aimed at us, they are aimed SPECIFICALLY at people who don’t know the difference. And that is where the worry is.
So lighten up, and quit being so hard on people who don’t know any different.

hey that black one is just like my nano! it’s so awesome! 128mb of memory to hold your pirated music, batery life is about 15 minutes, which is great for commuting, one way, and finally, it is truly a fine piece of technology. You can really appreciate the precison put forth to make this ipod. Not to mention, it was only 200 bucks!

Umm… it is obvious that the black is the fake. The screen is crap, the clickwheel is crap, and it doesn’t have a glossy coating over the black plastic. lol

Oh my god, can’t someone take a joke? So someone says ‘lol, damn those chinese fakers, damn you all to hell!’, and immediately, someone goes “OMGOMG, U RACIST, IT’S RUDE TO ASSUME THEY WERE CHINESE.” pfft, I’m azn, and I can take the joke
. Heck, I’m [jokingly] the most racist out of all of my friends.
Unless you’re older and don’t know crap about technology, few people are in danger of buying a fraud when some suspicious vender comes up to you
.
