AppleCare for the iPod at $55

Dealmac: Small Dog Electronics has the lowest price we know to be available for the new AppleCare Protection Plan for iPods, which extends the warranty coverage and phone support to two years from the date of purchase. It charges $55, $4 less than Apple.

Best buy offers an extended warranty for 39.00 for three years. When i bought it the sales rep said they dont fix apple products they just replace them, but i dont know how true it is. It is believeable considering that apple does not let just anybody open up their products an work on them.

are you able to buy best buys extended warranty on products that you didnt buy at the store. for example, i purchased my ipod on amazon, could i get the best buy warranty?

C Edens - I had a 20gb w/ best buy warranty that my headphone jack was shorting on. I brought it back and exchanged it for a new one (which happened to be a 30 gb w/ dock) - no questions asked. so yeah, I’d say it is true - It was for me anyway…
bb_dg - no, I think you have to buy it from best buy. not positive, but pretty sure.

Just FYI, you are able to use your .mac renewal discount on the AppleCare plan, brought the cost down to $40. Every little bit helps.

Are you able to purchase the Best Buy warranty if your iPod is no longer under warranty?
