According to the company, 22 percent of those activations were new to AT&T. Overall, the company sold 5.1 million smartphones in the second quarter—with the iPhone accounting for roughly 73 percent of those—and smartphones represented 77 percent of AT&T’s postpaid device sales, meaning that the iPhone accounted for roughly 56 percent of the company’s total prepaid sales for the quarter.
