AT&T announces $5/day 250MB iPad data plan

AT&T has announced a new $5 a day plan for tablet users. The plan, announced today at GigaOM’s Mobilize conference, offers 250MB of data per day but expires quickly. Another new $25 plan offers 1GB of data for three months. A report notes AT&T will make it possible to purchase the new plans directly from an iPad. [via 9to5Mac]

I get 500MB/month for $4 with freedompop and any or all of our household’s devices can access it from the hotspot that fits comfortably in my pants pocket. Not really sure how the big telecoms have the nerve to rip people off like this… of course, I guess if you’re crazy enough to pay Apple $130 for a $5 cellular antenna, I guess you’ve already made clear your fiscal sanity.
