In response to recent announcements of similar plans by rival carriers such as Verizon Wireless and Sprint, AT&T has announced that it will offer unlimited mobile calls for a flat rate of $99.99 per month. According to a Reuters report, AT&T said that the plan would be available starting February 22, and that existing customers could switch to the new plan without having to extend their service contract. iPhone users interested in the unlimited plan will still be required to carry an appropriate data package.

What part of unlimited you don’t understand? “Phone users interested in the unlimited plan will still be required to carry an appropriate data package. ”

Where’s the fine print stating that the actual amount of calls you can make is in fact limited?
And what happens to the current $99, $149, and $199 plans? Are they now obsolete?

So do you think that means $99 for unlimited phone calls but add $20 for data plan for iPhone? Even at $119 that is better than the “more minutes” plans that were available before which were $119 got you 2000 daytime minutes. I would guess that really would benefit those that went crazy minutes-wise and got $169 or $219 plans…great discount for them.
I wonder more how this will affect family plans and text messaging? Sharing unlimited minutes would be nice at a reasonable price since before it was $109 for 700 shared minutes and so forth up the ladder.

I agree with Tosa…That is what I am waiting for especially since my current contract with Verizon expires in 30days. A unlimited family share or a reduction in the prices would drive me to adopt the iphone.
