AT&T exec: iPhone service plans coming June 29
Larry Carter, senior vice president of sales for AT&T, has stated that service plan specifics for the iPhone will not be revealed until launch day. Speaking with USA Today, Carter did not offer specific details, but did indicate there will be plans customized for the iPhone, which will more than likely include both voice and data. “Regardless of which device you’re using today, you pay us a certain amount for (voice) minutes, and you also pay us for data units,” he says. “That is also true on the iPhone.”

Let’s see, the cheapest Black Berry plan with unlimited data that at&t offers is $34.99 + the cheapest voice plan $39.99 (450 anytime mins) is about $75.00 plus tax and other charges you would pay about $81-83/mo. For other PDA phones, the cheapest unlimited e-mail/data plan is $44.95 + $39.99 (voice)= $85.00 and again taxes and other misc charges comes to about $92.00/mo. For me personally none of these plans works out, they’re waaay too expensive. If an iPhone-specific plan came out to something under $70/mo (for voice and unlimited data) I might consider one. The chances of that happening though, I feel are not realistic.
