AT&T offering refurb iPhone 3GS for $9
AT&T is now offering refurbished iPhone 3GS units for $9. According to the carrier’s website, the 8 GB refurbished units require a two-year contract and new activation, and include a limited warranty of at least 90 days. It is not clear whether the lowered pricing represents a permanent change or is part of a short-term promotion; the iPhone 3GS is expected to be replaced and/or further lowered in price when Apple introduces its next-generation iPhone. I recently got a refurb 3GS from at&t for a penny. With a 2-year commitment of course. They actually charged my CC for 0.01.

$9? Really? AT&T might as well make these “free (with contract).”
And where’s the price drop on the iPhone 4, with the iPhone 5 about to be released?

Really, it seems like a total tech facepalm to buy a 3GS now, no matter how cheap. The plan is the expensive part, not the phone-and the 3GS is almost obsolete now.

I already have an iPhone 4. I needed a 3GS to test apps I’m developing and all the 3Gs’s on ebay/craigslist/whereever were $100-$200. After testing, my daughter will get it.

These stupid things have a shelf life of about 2 years. My 3Gs is about 2 years old and is starting to freeze up and slow down a lot. Plus Apple makes such minor tweaks every release that it’s obvious they’re just stringing people along. iPhones still have minimal storage and the constant IOS updates are starting to annoy the hell out of me.
