Audible offers $100 instant rebates on iPods at Amazon.com
“Audible, Inc. today announced an instant rebate of $100 on best-selling AudibleReady handheld devices for those Amazon.com customers who commit to a 12-month AudibleListener membership plan as part of their device purchase. Audible is the leading provider of digitally delivered spoken word audio.

Anyone know if this commitment requires payment for 12 months of Audible upfront, or just a 12-month contract for monthly payments? I like Audible, and getting a 100 bucks off an iPod mini would make me like them even more, but I’m not willing to pay $240 upfront for a year of service.

Audible simply requires a 12 month commitment. Even without the $100 offer, the 12 monthgig is a great bargin itself if you cost it out. I really enjoy Audible books on my iPod.

Obadiah, you’re so right. Audiobooks, and interviews, etc, are ideal on the iPod. Been listening to all of Christopher Lydon’s blogradio interviews this week.
Not that this is here or there, this is a fishy nr; I found the $100 rebate posted on Audible’s site about a month ago.

Audible used to do this in the past and even before there was an iPod. I remember getting a free Rio 500 once years ago. Good to see that they’re still doing this. Sure, you get $100 and have to spend about $250 over the year for their service, but at least they’re offering something worthwhile.
