this is the unit that might cause a loud hiss without an addition ground unit which is why ill stay clear of it.

Thanks for the heads up, picked one up this afternoon.

In my experience, the hiss depends on your stereo and your power supply.  I dont have any hiss in my car, but i do use a power supply further away from the stereo’s supply.  I’ve had this auto kit for months now and it’s great.  Too bad I bought it full price, i’m pissed now

just ordered mine, finally at a price that seems reasonable…thanks for the heads up…as for the hiss, I heard that if you turn down the aux input level down then the hiss goes away.

Is this for the 3G or 2G ipods?

Posted by groe27 on November 16, 2003 at 9:38 PM (CST)

Its for the 3G iPods as it fits into the dock connector, and its especially schweet because of the reason that you don’t have to plug anything into the headphone port. Therefore, if you have a mount for the iPod in the car, you can just put the iPod in the mount, without having to worry about two cords (in the case of the old iPods, a plug into the headphone port, and a plug into the firewire)

Thanks so much for this tip. I’ve been wanting one of these, and I almost bought one a few weeks ago in a computer store for $40. I’m glad I didn’t! is currently out of stock, but I was able to reserve one for in-store pickup at that price. Thanks again!

I bought one (full price, grrr) and I’m having a problem. It doesn’t stay in the power socket. It pops out quite frequently. I had a power cord for my prior 2G iPod and didn’t have this problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Part of why this is so annoying is that now I never want to use the volume control, ‘cause every time I touch the think, it disconnects (which pauses the iPod) and then I have to reconnect and then resume the iPod, then discover the volume isn’t where I wanted it. . . sucks

I went to BestBuy and they price matched plus 10% of the diff. for a price of 17.99.  Also I had seven $1 off coupons from the McDonald’s monopoly game for a final price of 10.99.

I almost felt guilty - ha ha
