Ehh… Still a little pricey.  Perhaps not, but the recorder itself is not what I had hoped it would be.

I’m surprised nobody has yet posted a GOOD review, with sample recordings!?

You can find it a little cheaper than that from froogle.google.com if you use the price limiting feature, but not much. The problem is, none of those places have it yet, and apple does. So I spent 60 on mine (with shipping).

The recording works ok, it’s incredibly easy to use, but I’m of somewhat mixed feelings on the quality of the recordings. It’s usually good, but sometimes the microphone seems too sensitive… I can’t recall the technical term, but when you speak too closely to it or have a sudden increase in volume in your speech, it makes it sound like a blown speaker.

sorry lads - this thing is crap for taking it seriously.
i`m a professional composer from germany.
it would be a perfect tool to work with.
specially to record instand melodie-ideas and send them to another musician to work on it, than got it sent back and so forth -

but if you sing a tune to a guitar and try to record it - what you get is just distortion - even if you just sing without an instrument.

whispering from a long distance got a little chance….but that`s a joke isn`t it?

i can`t understand why it isn`t possible to build something of good quality,that you can have a distotion-free recording like we`re used to every usual little cheep cassette-recorder sinse ages.

i tried many of belkin`s voice-recorders `cause i thought all thê ôthers were broken - but -sorry-all plastic ####.

asking a beautiful female voice on belkin-hotline in england - left the beauty-voice speachless - and the promise to call me back and help to solve the problem was -as i understand it now - just a promise…

does this suit apple??

All who are unsatisfied should wait for the Griffin iTalk.  It has been officially confirmed to be launching at Macworld Expo on January 5th-10th.

It is supposed to be much better than the Belkin, at a slightly lower cost.

I’m basically looking for something which I can record music right into my iPod.  Mainly old tapes I have.  Right now I have to import them into my mac using a sound program (anyone know of a good sound recording/eding program?) and then move them into iTunes and then back to my iPod.  If these voice recorders have a microphone line in, then that would be cool.  I could play my tapes right into my iPod. Not sure what I’d do with just voice recording though.  I have not read much on the Griffin iTalk.  does that look good?  Has anyone found a good way to get audio into their iPods from tapes in a less then painfull fashion?

On another note about FM transmitters.  I have tried several of these babies and so far the results have been less then steller.  The sound quality is not so good (it sounds a bit dead - no lows or highs) and when ever I turn a corner I get static.  Is the iTrip any better?
