iLounger Sean has informed us that Belkin has released the TuneDok to the general public and has posted information on its website. The TuneDok was the same iPod holder that was provided in the VW iPod connectivity kit for the ‘Pods Unite’ promotion, which has since expired. The iPod holder features ‘AirGrip’ technology (suction cup) for secure placement, a large and small rubber base plus adapter cup for exact fit in a cup holder, cable management system, and comes with a 3 year warranty. The TuneDok fits all iPod models and retails for $29.99.

I like that this holder has been designed for the iPod exclusively, instead of those clunky other universal holders. This should work great in my GTI!

Has anyone actually seen one of these in person? Are they in any stores yet?

Looks promising. Any one know if you can have a 3G charger connected while in the base? How is it for scratch control on the back of the ipod?

I don’t understand hwo this is supposd to stay in place. I have a VW Jetta. Anyone who owns one of these knows that the cupholders do not provide enough surface area to allow the suction to grip it.

I want to know if it will fit an ipod that is in a iSkin.

Stuart,
This holder does not use the suction cup top attach to the cup holder. It uses the suction cup to hold on to to the back of the iPod, just like the Belkin Battery Backup does. There’s also a silicone pad on the cradle to prevent scratching on the backside.

mustang, i’d assume that you have to remove it from any case, it’s probably sized exactly to the ‘pod

Stuart,
There is a cup attachment that is specifically designed for the VW Jetta.
I just got my TuneDok. It’s the best. It holds the iPod with a suction cup in the back. It looks great. And it makes it easily accessible while driving.
