Bose has sent out invitations to select members of the media for an event to be held in New York City on Wednesday, August 19. The invite, believed to be for a new product compatible with the iPod and/or iPhone, states simply, “Thirty years of research. Our best ever. Now Arriving. Please join us to experience the next generation of the product that defined an industry.” No further details as to what product they might be referring to were given; the company’s marquee offerings include QuietComfort headphones, SoundDock speakers, and Wave Radios, amongst others.

A wave radio with an iPod dock? Noise canceling headphones with bluetooth? Either way they will be overpriced. I mean, Bose sells a $1100 boom box and a $350 clock radio. Sheesh…

Bose must have hired the same marketing firm Apple uses.

Maybe they’ll announce that they’re going to stop making those crappy, bass-heavy, no treble in-ear phones. I hate mine. Couldn’t even give them away.

I will bet the farm it is the next generation Wave Radio with an integrated iPod dock, which begs to ask, what’s the point of a $300 SoundDock and a $350 Wave Radio with an integrated iPod dock? Maybe they are adding two more of those $20 2 1/2 inch paper speakers to the Wave radio, calling it the “Wave Radio Extreme” or “iWave Radio” and bumping the price to around $500. Can’t wait to see the ad in Reader’s Digest.

Well, as they say - “No Highs, No Lows, it must be Bose”.
No thanks, I think I’ll stick with my Klipsch.
