The men’s Burton Shield ($380), Ronin 2L ($360) and the women’s Radar 2L ($360) jackets are now available for purchase at Burton’s online store. All jackets feature “an updated, flexible SOFTswitch™ control pad located on the sleeve to control the most recent edition of the Apple iPod. When you’re not feeling a certain song in your playlist, just press a button on your sleeve and poof – the song changes. It’s like magic. The iPod itself is stored safely in a specially designed, EVA molded chest pocket.” The Amp Pack backpack is not yet available for purchase in the Burton online store.

Yeah, that site works real good. Even with all the latest plugins, etc., you click to enter the site and get nothing.
Real good Burton. Hows about getting your site to work first.

I got my Ronin 2L 3 days ago. And went snowboarding with it too.
The color is a really really dark brownish grey but looks black to me. The softSwitch works perfectly (even with mittens) the coat has more pockets and vents than any other burton coat I’ve owned. Almost too many. There are 3 exterior pockets on each side and of course the ipod pocket which can fit more things within that pocket. Plus an arm vent and a 5inch little vent by the chest pockets. Apparently there is a stash pocket in the arm that I cant seem to find yet. The hood is detachable via zipper and I can wear the hood comfortably with goggles. The coat has many other things you can expect from burton like a cool liner tapered seems and a really cool goggle cleaner found in its own pocket within the right chest pocket. The ipod case is perfectly placed I couldn’t even tell it was there when I was snowboarding. I could fish my sony earbuds MDR-EX71 perfectly through the coat.
My only problem is that there is a fragile ribbon cable that comes out of the pocket and into a little “AMP” box the size of a matchbox. Shown here http://www.drbott.com/images/lg/0147-AMP1.jpg It is also annoying to plug the headphones in and out of that box because it is in its seperate small pocket. So I’m just going to keep my headphones plugged in all season. Also my friend told me that his switch didn’t work really well in the cold but I didn’t experience any problems.
BTW if you have a 1 or 2 G ipod you can still use it with this coat by buying a $20 Amp Box from DrBott Its the same exact box that comes with the Burton coat just a different connector http://www.drbott.com/prod/db.lasso?code=0148-AMP2 I also imagine DrBott will be making these boxes for a while so dont worry about the coat becoming incompatable with future iPods.
I Love this coat. If you can’t find one go to your local snowboarding store and ask them to order you one. I don’t think anyone has these in store.

Does anyone know who makes the controller and if we can just by that piece? I have a nice jacket already and would like to have the remote part only added to my jacket.

I bought one of these tonight, the Ronin. My local BC Surf & Sport in Denver had one in stock for 299, cheaper than the Burton Online store…just an FYI
