CNET: Music downloads decline after RIAA lawsuits
“The music industry’s controversial lawsuits against online song swappers appear to have forced U.S. computer users to severely curb their free music downloading habit, according to new research released.
The percentage of Americans who downloaded music from the Internet fell to 14 percent over the four weeks ended December 14, from 29 percent in a 30-day sample conducted in March, April and May, according to a telephone survey of 1,358 Internet users conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.”

I still get my music for via online ... sites and certain apps. It’s like drugs you can’t stop it completely but there still gonna be there.

interesting analogy. what are you a recovering addict or something. and yes you can stop drugs completely. so that analogy kind of sucks dont it.

with the advent of newer, less RIAA-monitored P2P communities like Bittorrent and eMule, of course people are going to migrate over from Kazaa and Grokster. besides, if anything, the RIAA subpoenas themselves were found to be illegal.

I agree with Chris. I wouldn’t rely so much on this research… It’s not too hard to imagine how anyone would say “No, I don’t download music from the internet” after all the fuss with RIAA, lawsuits and the rest.

Just maybe, the availablity to purchase and download music online had a little to do with it, rather than the fear of being sued.

hmmm…i know some of my friends have stopped d/l music due to the lawsuits…
i personally completely quit after deciding it was morally wrong :D.
