Speaking with iLounge at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, comedian Sinbad expressed continued love and admiration for Apple’s Mac and iPod product lines, joking that the Mac mini was “the sort of thing you buy even if you don’t need it,” and claiming that he’d be buying several for rooms in his house. He also jokingly predicted that people would soon be wearing multiple iPod shuffles at once to hold a large music collection.

I’m amazed how SO many people are jumping on non-“computer” uses for the Mac Mini. Media servers, stereo components, DVRs, car stereos…
I agree that it’s versatile, it just surprises me that so many people come to the same conclusion. It will be cool to see what people come up with when you combine cheap, small, and OS X!

The funny thing is, that for the price of two iPod shuffle 1G, you could just get an iPod mini with 4G of space. Not sure what the benefit of having multiples would be—if you want more space, there’s a whole other product line for that.

What the mini needs to compete equally with the other SFF media servers is a port of Myth from Linux to OSX - and some way to add some multi-zone SPDIF output and analog/HDTV input and output. Maybe through a USB breakout box r custom rack.?

Your forgot the key word in Sinbad’s prediction: “Jokingly”
>“He also jokingly predicted that people
>would soon be wearing multiple iPod
>shuffles…”
