Checked mine today in Port CHester, NY.  They’ve got the HPs.  But why?  THe price is the only difference.  Oh, plus compatibility with HP products, which could be good.

Where in the world do u see 4G 40 gig on the link? All ipods are 4 gig mini not 4th Generation 40 gig ipods.
THis is a ri off
Staples has 20 gig HP ipod for about 200 after price match.

ok i just got back from costco (billings, MT) with the 40 gig hp ipod. It was $379 which makes alot more sense.  It is the same as the apple ipod but with an hp logo on the back. I am pumped!

And the best part is I can return it in a year or two for cash and get the new hotness whatever it will be. Costco Rocks!!!

I doubt that the standard return policy at Costco will allow the return of an iPod.  Most likely, the iPod falls under the “Computer Hardware” portion of their return policy posted at their locations.

This always happens with whatever I buy.  I get it the day it comes out, then a month later Costco gets it and bundles it with tons of sweet stuff for pennies above retail of the unit itself.

Happend with my PS1/PS2/Xbox/gameboy

Yes, the Costco 40 Gig price is $379… $279 was a huge dream.

And yes, the iPod is considered under the computer return policy… 6 months.

The Costco by me had 50x 40 gig iPod+hp last week. Today, they were down to 15. The floor manager said they were going like hotcakes when I picked mine up.

“Effective November 4th, 2002, Costco Wholesale’s desktop and notebook computer return policy is six-months from the date of purchase. After six-months from the date of purchase, all service and technical support will be subject to the applicable remaining manufacturers’ warranty.”

Anyway, I am pretty sure that you get the normal warrenty for the ipod at costco.  A buddy of mine called and said that it did not fall under the computer hardware 6 month term.  Search some forums at fatwallet for costco and ipod and you should find the same thing stated.  This makes it a pretty good deal if you can return the player in a year or 2 if something goes wrong! =)

Seems there is confusion over the return policy. When I picked up mine… one of the floor managers said the iPod is considered a computer and is therefor under the 6 month return policy.

However, the worker of the electronics booth (where you pick up your purchase), said the iPod is not a computer. He said that if it had been 6 months, a little return policy notification prints up on the bottom of the reciept.

I work at Costco and will say that I am 99% sure that it doesn’t fall under our Computer Policy. Reason being is that we have the RCA 1.5 GB MP3 and it’s not considered a computer. The best way to tell, if someone reading this has purchased one is at the bottom of the receipt. If it prints our Computer policy, then it does. If not, you’re all set. And you might also want to know that it also includes the docking station.
