CTV releases Official Olympics Coverage App

The official Canadian broadcasters for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games have released a news and information application for the iPhone and iPod touch. Developed by Indusblue, the CTVOlympics.ca app provides headlines and news on every sport at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games with comprehensive photo galleries, athlete profiles, venue information and a schedule of upcoming events. An updated “Games-time” release of the application is scheduled for the week of February 8th which will add a full TV schedule, a play-by-play feed of the Games, medal and result information and live blogging of the major events. Push Notifications will also be provided for breaking news and medal information. CTVOlympics.ca is available as a free download from the App Store.

This looks like necessary and great app! Thank you Canada!
It’s not surprising to see nothing on the app front from NBC or the US Olympics. NBC is just reaffirming why they are in their current financial and ratings situation.

I don’t think Ive ever seen as poor coverage for an Olympic broadcast in my life! Watching the torch relay at 10 est this morning was like watching a media class on what not to do: Cameras out of focus, pixellation, broken inconsistnt commentary and a sound track that included a cameraman complaining about people walking on his cable?? hope we’re the only ones seeing this. What an embarrassement!

I want to watch 2010 coverage, but it is not available in the Canadian App Store for my Apple TV or my iPhone.
CBC posts to the App Store but does not cover the games.
Global also posts to the App Store and also does not cover the games.
NBC DOES cover the games, AND posts to the App Store, but only available to american accounts (some irony in that I live in vancouver and can not get coverage).
CTV COVERS the games but does NOT post content for my devices - they expect me to sit at my computer (rather than in the living room) and watch things there. That sux

Just watching your broadcast on speed skater Jeremy Wotherspoon. Both the female and male announcer are pronouncing his name incorrectly. Shame, shame. His name is “Wotherspoon ” not Witherspoon, I think as a professional TV broadcaster you should take the time to call someone by their name and not someone else’s.

With all the Olympic stars & celebrities, why not
have them all autograph a t-shirt, helmet, certificate, etc. & then auction it off on ebay with proceeds going to the athletes ?
A photo of them autographing the item should be included.
