Dell no longer selling 10GB iPods

iLounger Alexis writes in an email to us: I had two orders placed on Dell’s site on 6/10 and 6/12 when they had the 10% and 15% off deals. They went through, but I never got shipping status emails and low and behold when I called Dell they told me they had lost the contract to sell them so both my orders had gotten cancelled.

I just called Dell and they said that you could no longer order them, but they were filling the backorders.  I ordered mine on 5/19, but there is no expected ship date.  What am I to do?  With the Dell discount and coupon, I got my 30gb one for $400 dollars with free shipping.  Aargh!

I guess an extra $100 gets you one now.  At least that’s how I felt when I got mine.  Dell has pulled this with Sony Clie as well, people could go buy them in the store while Dell made the pre-order folks wait and wait and wait.

Sometimes a bargain is not such a good deal.

I ordered 2 ipods from Dell on May 19th, one 15 and one 30. The 30 arrived a few days ago, and the 15 just shipped yesterday (June 20th). So I was lucky (and smart) to have caught that discount when I did. DMYK-> I’ll bet your 30 will ship any day now.

Does anyone know if there is a way to use your iPod as
external storage for a PDA such as Sony Clie, Palm Tungsten etc.?

Now I’m mad.  I ordered my 15 gig on 5-15-03 and I just received another email from dell that it will not ship before 7-9-03.  Good thing I still have my old one!

Did anyone recieve their May 15th order over a week or two ago and hasnt yet been charged for the order?

No, I have not received it, and my Dell account has been charged, they do not know what they are doing over there, they can’t give me a straight answer on anything.  They don’t know when they are coming in, if they are coming in, how many are on backorder, etc.  What a mess!

I was in the same boat, and jsut got an email saying it was delayed again. I called Dell and found out that it was actually shipped on Friday. I have actually received no email confirmation from Dell, but I got a tracking number from a Dell rep. Give them a call and you might be pleasantly suprised.

I just checked Dell’s web site and they now have both 10 and 15 GB iPods for sale again. There’s currently a 10% off sale that applies, and I’ve also seen coupon codes for $35 off orders over $300 out there that will apply tot he 15 GB model.

The 30 GB iPods seem to be on backorder almost everywhere.

DUDE, your getting a iPod from Dell.  You just don’t know when!
My 15 gig that was delayed until 9th of July according to a email from Dell on the 21st of June shipped on the 20th of June.

Glad I use a Mac, I would not want to buy a computer froms these guys!

Sorry dude, we are NOT getting them.  Dell just called me and they are CANCELLING MY ORDER, as they are cancelling all ipod orders.  They told me they are calling all of the people who ordered them to tell them they are no longer carrying them.  They didn’t seem to care that they would be losing customers over this.  I URGE eveyone who is waiting for there unit to call Dell to voice your opinion.  Good Luck!

Obviously, people are getting mixed responses from Dell.

When I had ordered my 30 GB iPod on May 15, it was backorderd until the 30th. They emailed me on the 30th to say it would be delayed until June 15th. They then emailed me on June 6th to say it would be delayed until June 20th and that my order would be cancelled unless I called to keep it active. I called immediately to keep it active, and when I checked my order on the 8th discovered that it had shipped out on the 6th…not long after I had confirmed my order.

Definitely frustrating, but definitely worth the wait to get a $500 iPod for about $400 after discounts. I’ve had it for almost 2 weeks and I LOVE IT!!!

Okay gang, I’ve posted on here a few times about the problems with Dell.  After a week of talking with them, it APPEARS that my 30gb shipped on Friday.  No email notification, nothing.  I’m just REALLY surpised they got them and shipped them.  I recommend checking your order status daily, you may be surprised, I should have mine by the 4th of July holiday.  Dell is frusting and heck, but as far as ipods go, viva la ipod!

Ordered two on 6/28/03 with 27.5% off stacked cpns…Gee they “lost” my order too! (not suprising considering I got two 10gb models for 216 each)
