According to a Dow Jones report, Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann has said it’s possible that holiday-season demand for the iPhone may outpace supplies. “We’re not giving out precise forecasts,” Obermann said, “but registrations on our web site lead me to believe (the holiday shopping season) will be a strong sales period. The real question for me is whether we have enough devices and can meet customer demand.” Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile unit is the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in Germany. The iPhone will go on sale in the region at 12:01 a.m. local time tomorrow.

In my opinion this is just not true!
The iPhone demand in germany is moderate. They organized busses from other cities to drive to the Midnight-Sales-Point, but actually no one wanted to go there, so T-Mobile cancelled the buses. I think he is just saying this to enforce sales!

To enforce sales? No kidding? *g*
Honestly, you’re most likely right. Consumers in Germany are very price/value conscious, but with an emphasis on the price aspect, and from all I know they’ve been pretty allergic to provider lock-in in the past. Add to that the rather… interesting prices T-Mobile came up with, and I would rather not worry about not being able to get my hands on an iPhone.
