Digital Lifestyle Outfitters today introduced the DLO Action Jacket for Apple’s fifth-generation iPod. The cushioned neoprene case sports a built-in screen protector, a removable belt clip and a slim armband. The DLO Action Jacket is available immediately in four different colors—red, blue, black and grey. The case sells for $30.
“The DLO Action Jacket for the iPod preserves the glass finish of the iPod’s screen and front surface,” says the company. “It fully protects the iPod during any activity and may be used as an everyday case for the new video iPods. It allows hands-free mobility for owners who use the armband for sports activities like jogging, biking, hiking or working out. The sturdy belt clip offers the option of wearing the iPod on the hip or on a belt, bag, pocket, almost anywhere. And, the included workout armband fits any arm size and is easy to adjust.”

This was the first 5th-gen case to show up at my local Best Buy, so I was quick to purchase it when I saw it. I have trouble accessing the dock port through the bottom of the case, but this might have to do with owning a 60 gigger. Overall, I’m not very pleased with the case. Only when I’m working out at the gym am I happy with it. I’ll be replacing it just as soon as more cases are released.

I have the DLO action jacket for my 4g. The stitching around scrollwheel leaves visable scratches, as you can read on other Action Jacket newsbits and reviews here on iLounge. I recently purchased the action jacket for my nano, hoping this issue would have been addressed, but the same stitching was apparent, and scratched my nano within 5 minutes… it was not horrible, but in time and in comparison with the scratches on my 4g, i suspect it would be pretty bad.
I would read some more reviews before buying this product, especially with the susceptability to scratches on the nano and 5g models.

This looked cool…but from those other comments I’m not sure I want it now. When will ilounge do a review?

I’ve got the Action Jacket for the 4G. No problems. Scratches are inevitable - Invisible Skin or some PDA screen protector - problem solved. The Ipod scratches easily, so there’s no way it’s going to stay in mint condition. When this hits stores where I’m at, definitely going to get one. Good case pretty much all around - the gym, the car, the belt, etc. You can go from belt clip to arm strap in seconds.

I just purchased this new case from best buy last night on my way to the gym, and I love it. The arm band was very comfortable. I like the padded grip and the sides on the case, and I like the protective screen and wheel covers.

Bought one at best buy today. I have the 60 gig and i agree the opening for the dock port doesn’t match up perfectly. It has felt-like material all around and rubber on the side for grip-ability. Clear plastic covers the screen and wheel. So far so good.

Did all of you get black cases? I see in the announcement that other colors are supposed to be available, but on their website they only have the black one.

I’m receiving my DLO action jacket for my iPod tomorrow & I hope it works out well. Maybe if you leave your iPod in the case long enough the case well stretch out some. Like if you use a baseball glove alot & it’s stiff at 1st, it’ll soften up.
