As promised, iLounge is proud to announce the immediate availability of its new Buyers’ Guide (Spring/Summer 2005) for free download from the links above and below. It contains exclusive first looks at new accessories such as Griffin Technology’s iTripLCD and Alfa Romeo’s 147 iPod Kit, as well as several major new must-see features:

  • The New Lounge: Get your first look at our redesigned web site, coming soon!
  • The Beginners’ Guide to iPod: If you’ve been thinking of buying an iPod, or trying to convince a friend to join the revolution, this is the place to start. We tackle every question you might have, then introduce you to the worlds of iPod accessories and the people who love them: members of the iLounge community.
  • Sneak Peeks: An unparalleled look at the future of the iPod, with pages full of upcoming car accessories, Bluetooth accessories, new cases, and much, much more.
  • Music!: A look at maximizing your iPod listening experience, with a guide to some of the world’s most famous iPod parties.

And, of course, we reveal the winners of our Cover Contest and 100-Word Story Contest, in addition to providing a comprehensive new reviews section that’s even easier to use than before. By reader demand, the Guide contains an updated report card of the over 300 iPod-related products that have been reviewed by iLounge, and features even more of the incredible art and photography of iLounge readers from around the world.

For the unfamiliar, iLounge’s Buyers’ Guide is a complete, magazine-style guide to everything iPod and iLounge, with trustworthy previews and reviews of the very best iPod accessories, guides to getting free iPod software and support, and much, much more. As before, the Buyers Guide is a totally free download. Instead of asking our readers to cough up $6 to buy the Guide in a store, we are providing it for free online and taking mass advantage of file-sharing networks to spread it around the world.

We’ve designed two versions of the Guide - one for viewing on your computer, and one that lets you print only the pages you want and use them when shopping for iPod accessories. We are making the viewable version available for download via the link above, and will provide a copy of the printable version to any person who is willing to host it on a mirror site and/or share the file on a major file-sharing network. Please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for a copy of the printable version if you are willing to host or share the file with others. We will post mirror links in the comments thread below.

The Buyers’ Guide is only possible thanks to the support of our awesome readers and loyal advertisers:

While I thought that was a pretty good buyers guide, why on earth is Iskin’s Duo CONCEPT model included?  It is by no means final, nor is it released yet, nor is it posted anywhere whatsoever on the Iskin website!

How can you possibly reccomend something that isn’t available yet, and worse not even finished!  It’s one thing to show what the future holds, but this is a buyers guide is it not?

KingKikapu,
The heading of the section that concept case is in is Sneak Peeks - “The future of the iPod starts here: iPodlounge’s first looks at tomorrow’s incredible new accessories. But remember to wait for our graded reviews before rushing out to the store - final features and performances may vary.”

my bad I didn’t even spot the sneak peek header.  I was completely blind, although it is still a little odd to see it in there considering its only a render whereas every other sneak peak in there appeared to be at least in prototype/production stages will physical samples.  I hope that duo comes out soon though.  I am looking forward to a new, stronger clip than the evo2 currently provides, and I like the wheel cover options that are now standard on iskin.  It is a nice alternative to Lajo’s skin-type cover and Vaja’s clear-ish protection.

Are there scoring mistakes in the Buyers’ Guide? The Power Support Silicone Jacket and iSkin eVo2 on page 65 were previously given B+ scores by iPodlounge but the Buyers’ Guide now lists A- scores for those two products. Are these typos or have the scores really been updated?

Hey,
Ok.. I have heard about this Buyers Guide and it sounds pretty useful.  I have been referred to it many times.  Ok.. so I go to download it and try all of the links and none of them work!  Is there another way someone can get it to me?  Thanks a lot!

Rapsodist: No and yes. The eVo2’s updated grade is shown in the Report Card also, alongside the description eVo2 with Wheel Cap. Since shipping eVo2s include the new Cap, they get marked up for having added protection at no extra cost. But you’re right - the Power Support Jacket’s grade (4G) only was incorrect. Our mistake on that one. It should be a B+, as listed on the site. Sorry for the error.
