Element Case unveils Vapor Pro case for iPhone 4

Element Case has unveiled its new Vapor Pro case for the iPhone 4. As a modified version of the company’s prior Vapor case, the Vapor Pro features wider access ports for compatibility with more third-party accessories, a special “aerospace” polymer section over the antenna contact points to help eliminate attenuation, a diagonally-attached design with bolts positioned at opposite corners of the phone, titanium alloy finishes, and a special hex key tool for removal and installation. The Vapor Pro will initially be available in a limited first-run edition that includes a zippered carrying case, a removable carbon fiber back plate, and a special two tone electrolytic hard coated finish. The limited edition will sell for $150, while traditional models, as well as a version compatible with the CDMA iPhone 4, will be available soon; pricing for those models has yet to be announced.

Awesome, they fixed the design flaws of an already overpriced case and doubled the price.  Good luck with that.  It looks really cool but no way I would pay this much.

At that price, one would need a protective case around that case ;)

That price point is hilarious. Is that a joke? Does it also print money? I must be missing something important here…

At 75 percent of the 16GB model price, I don’t see these selling at all. In fact, I can’t see anyone paying more than $50 for a case! What a joke!

Whether or not “we” think the price is ridiculous, far more expensive cases have sold well in this space.
It has nothing to do with the relative cost of the case vs the phone.  it’s “cool/status” for some, and others who have extra money, it’s what they like.  If the new one had come in at a price nearer the original, I’d have bought one.  Some of us have a job that dictates we don’t walk into a meeting with a “Hello Kitty” or “PacMan” case - if you know what I mean.

The biggest problem I have with a metal case is that it will worsen attenna problems.

Sure, they use a polymer on one side - where the primary cellular antenna is.  But the other side has metal covering the other antennas - e.g. the wi-fi antenna.

It’s perfectly within the company’s rights to make and sell a case that’s exorbitantly expensive. It’s also within our rights to poke fun at their decision to do so. What a great country! ;)

bought it, love it and have no buyers remorse at all!  To all the cheapo’s who think it’s over priced… you probably don’t understand that beside this thing being absolutely awesome and an order of magnitude better than all of those $30< cases at the typical store… it’s MADE IN THE USA!  Norther CA to be specific!  That alone makes it worth 3x more than the same exact case made in slave laborville (China)....  I love having it and the status it has is just gravy..
