Essential TPE debuts Icon battery pack for iPhone

Essential TPE has debuted its new Icon battery pack for the iPhone. The Icon is a dock-connecting battery pack featuring an integrated rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery and an unusual design that uses EL lighting technology and mimics the iOS’ full-screen charging indicator. Although the exact capacity of the battery is unknown, the company claims the Icon provides up to three hours of additional talk time and up to 18 hours of additional audio playback. Essential TPE’s Icon battery pack for iPhone is available now and sells for $50.

This is a nice idea in theory but in the real world it just isn’t doable. This thing sticks out 3-4 inches. It is just asking to be broken off and damage the connector at the same time.
It does look nice but I can’t see it taking off.
