ezGear has announced the carShare car power socket splitter. The device allows you to simultaneously use an iPod car charger with a cigarette lighter or another charger for a gadget such as a cell phone. The carShare is priced at $14.99.
“The carShare is a simple product that solves a basic problem,” ezGear says. “Many iPod users also have cell phones. With the carShare, you can now charge your iPod and your cell phone at the same time.”

Ah, sweet sweet bloated prices.
Observe: this poduct merely splits a cigarette lighter into two cigarette lighters. Doesn’t nothing more or less.

Yes, but these are white and will perfectly match the Apple iPod. (tongue firmly in cheek…)

Why can’t someone create an “on/off switch” for a lighter socket? That way I could leave my Belkin Auto Kit plugged in all the time, and just kill the power with a flick of the switch. Hard-wiring there power adapter looks to be a pain.

Galley -
Most cars these days usually cut the power to the lighters when the ignition switch/car is off, I know that GM cars leave their power running even when the car is off, but then again, GM really can’t do anything right. But sometimes depending on the power outlet you use, they are always kept on. Try to find another one in your car that might be switched.
