Fastmac has introduced its U-Connect Universal Dock Connector Adapter for the second-generation iPod shuffle. Available in black or white, the U-Connect Adapter features a headphone plug/connector on one end and a standard 30-pin Dock Connector on the other, allowing the shuffle to be used with most iPod accessories, as well as a switch to toggle between music and charging modes. “Many owners of iPod shuffle also own other iPods and our U-Connect product allows them to re-use the accessories they already have,” said Michael Lowdermilk, Business Development Manager of Fastmac. “U-Connect opens up a world of possibilities for the diminutive iPod shuffle.” The Fastmac U-Connect Universal Dock Connector Adapter for iPod shuffle is available for pre-order now for $16 and is scheduled to ship within 10 days.

It’s as big as the Shuffle itself.

I just have to ask though….. what iPod accessories would you use with the shuffle aside from a regular dock and remote. If you need a remote to use with your shuffle, that doesn’t really seem to make much sense considering the diminutive size of the shuffle.
But still….. it would be nice to just drop it into a regular dock to sync if you have other iPods in the house. Aside from that, it doesn’t really seem to be of much use.

For those that want to listen to their music in their car and control the tracks from their car head unit, but then want the same music when they get out and get to the gym, this is great.
