First announced in January, FastMac has announced that its iV Extended Battery for the iPhone and iPhone 3G is now available. The iV is a Dock-mounting accessory that fully covers the iPhone’s bottom and rear, save for the camera, and contains a 3100mAH TruePower battery that extends the iPhone’s capabilities to 24 hours of talk time, 31 days of standby, 20+ hours of video, and almost 72 hours of audio playback time. In addition, the iV features a built-in LED light for shooting photos in low light, a full-size USB port for charging other accessories such as a Bluetooth headset, and a pass-though Dock Connector port for syncing and charging. Made in the USA, the FastMac iV for iPhone and iPhone 3G is available now and sells for $80.

Hmm, more power (3100 vs. 1800) and a lower price than the Morphie Juice Pack ($80 vs. $100)? Things are getting interesting…

I like how these affix to the phone, but neither this one nor the Mophie look like they’ll work a case on the phone… I have a 3gjuice, which I like a lot, except that it seems a little loose at times when it constantly connects & disconnects… I’d like one that affixes better to the phone & works with cases somehow…

I called their customer service to ask if an iV was in the works for the 2G ipod touch. The person who took my call checked with someone who said the 3G version was compatible with all iphones and ipod touch’s. This was confirmed by their press release available on their website.
I ordered one but I’m kinda nervous about it’s compatibility.

I ordered one on Wednesday AM to be shipped overnight. I was assured that I would have it yesterday (Nov. 6th). It still hasn’t shipped and they won’t respond to my emails. IMHO, this company should be avoided.

the price is misleading. many talking about it says it’s $80 from a cursorial look at their site (no offense). it’s $100 for the 3g version before any shipping charges.
