Micheal Jackson goes bunkrupt so has to sell his Beatles catalogue and licenses.

i actually think they are a bit narrowminded in their lawsuit. I would think that the problem was Apple Corp. (the beatles) was worried that people would mistake Apple computers for their music company thereby affecting the operating and profits of the company (or whatever legal reason they felt they had a right to claim).... so an agreement was made to make sure they (Apple computers) would not make anything related to music.
the selling of ipods (music players) must have been a grey area that they might not have had the foresight of covering off in the initial settlement years ago, but the itunes music store is definitely in the sore spot for Apple Corps.
But i would think the biggest problem would have been the programs like soundtrack and garageband…things that actually help you produce music. To me, this is directly the same thing that Apple Corps was about…making and distributing original music. This, then becomes a cause for heavy argument…

don’t get me wrong, i’m an apple fan, i love the programs i just mentioned…but if there was agreements made… then i can’t see how Jobs and Co. can hope to win this argument as it probably has the potential to be a bigger problem than what is stated. Maybe Jobs was hoping these things would take years to settle…and eventually a private settlement would again be enough to solve the issue again. either way, i hope it doesn’t mean a crippling or total stoppage of any programs, hardware or business strategy because i think this really is a milestone in the industry and i would hate to have stupid greed (from both sides) to ruin a good thing. just my two cents…

first of all, the beatles are not some forgotten rock band from fourty years ago. well, they are from fourty years ago, but not forgotten at all. I’m in my twenties and haven been listening to them my whole life. they are legendary.

Apple Computer is not producing any music, they are not a record label, they havent signed an bands. They have a made a computer program that allows users to buy music from the record companies. I mean it’s a little more complex than that, but Apple Computer is doing nothing more than providing the software. They are the gateway to the music, not the ones making the music. thats how i see it

Now this is a stupid lawsuit.  Reminds me of:

Intel with their “intel” lawsuit.
Microsoft with their “NT” threats

Just because you own the name doesn’t make it that only you can use it. 

BTW, intel is intellegence, so should the government be sued because they use this every other minute?

you apple lovers are so unreasonable.  the beatles… one of the most successful bands ever… apple, <6% of the computing market!  if iPods weren’t made available for the p.c., apple probably would have stopped selling them.  and by the way, anapod explorer kills iTunes anyday…
