Google has released an official iPhone and iPod touch app for its new Google+ social network. The new app allows users to quickly and easily share information with people in their Google+ Circles using a super-fast group messaging feature called Huddle and follow The Stream to keep up to date about what friends in their Circles are up to and where they’re checking in or what people are saying about things nearby. Google+ for the iPhone and iPod touch is available from the App Store as a free download.
Update: As noted in the comments, the Google+ app is compatible only with the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4. The app will not install on the iPod touch or the iPad.

John Gruber said that this app does not work on iPods, only on iPhones.

What possible reason is there for not supporting touches and iPads? Google+ works just fine here on my desktop and it doesn’t have 3G connectivity, it doesn’t even have wireless connectivity? This seems to be an artificial constraint just for the sake of keeping up the illusion of exclusivity for what is little more than Google Buzz repackaged and barely repurposed.
