Google shows offline Gmail for iPhone at MWC

During a keynote at the 2009 Mobile World Congress this week, Google vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra demonstrated offline Gmail for the iPhone and Android phones. The updated web application features an improved interface label support, and offline access, which is made possible through HTML5 standards, including App Cache and database support. The app seems to be quite responsive, thanks to the database being kept locally.
