GoogleGet – news reader for iPod terminated

Google news has taken steps to prevent non-Google apps accessing and re-formatting their news, resulting in the very useful application GoogleGet becoming useless. Its writer has officially stopped the project.
“GoogleGet is no longer available for download and unfortunately none of the previous versions will work with the current Google News website.
The reason for this is pretty simple. During March 2004 Google made some changes to their servers that basically try to prevent non-browser software from downloading pages. I asked Google about this and they pointed me towards the terms of service that apply to that information, specifically part 3. This denies users the permission to reformat news information, or re-display it elsewhere. So, in respect of this I’ve decided to leave GooglGet behind.”

R.I.P. Googleget.
Its what got me interested in using the ipod for stuff other than music.

Btw the invitation to join iPodSoft still stands to the creator of Googleget.

Pod2Go will also put news from various RSS sources onto any iPod (except the new mini’s) in the form of a memo note.

ok i use iPod agent and its really good and i love its many features, but about rss enws feature….
currently i use the yahoo top stories…but im not familiar about how to use rss so lets say i wanted to put iPod lounge on it ...is that doable…how do i got about knowing if a site is rss compatiable and then writing the rss url correctly for ipodagent to read it!?

Ipod was never meant to be a PDA anyway. Get a pda if you want to have a portable organizer.

anyone have recomendations on which software would be best to download news onto the mini, or is there no software out there yet for the mini? I would love to be able to get the wired.com’s headlines onto the mini. Thanks.
