Griffin Technology said today that it is now shipping the iTrip-Black FM transmitter for the new iPod U2 Special Edition. Like the original white iTrip, the new iTrip-Black retains its most popular features such as unlimited station frequencies and battery-free iPod mating design. The new model with its jet-black exterior and red LED light perfectly matches the new U2 iPod. The iTrip-Black is priced $35.

Griffin seems to be really on top of things. They cover the minute details very well. Notice that the LED for the black iTrip is red. Matches with the red scroll wheel. Very nice.

even if it is a different led, i dont see how this would make them “really on top of things”. more like not stupid

Not in the iTrip shots I saw in the review:

Either way, it wasn’t meant as sole proof of Griffin being on top of things. I was refering, instead, to their general attention to detail.

Doesn’t the U2 iPod still have a blue backlight? a blue LED would match that.

Can anyone tell me if it’s available in stores now (Like Apple or Fry’s) or do I still have to order it through Griffin Technology? Thanks
