Griffin Technology has quietly introduced iBeam, a set of two small iPod attachments that turn the music player into a flashlight or a class IIIA laser pointer. The iBeam sells for $19.99 and will begin shipping by the end of October. Both accessories come with a protective snap-on cap that can be attached to any keychain.

this is a diversion from their botched attempts to release the Radio Shark. It’s a “wag the dog” strategy for Griffin ...

Please come out with something useful, like a line in for recording. (and I’m not talking about the useless iMic garbage, I want a REAL line in, RCAs preferably)

A line in would be great however isn’t that the responsability of Apple and a firmware upgrade? For the mic in it’s at 16 bit and 8 khz… pretty small. Not good for taking the minidisc trophy for small and compact line in/ mic recording.

I find ‘em quite cool.. lasers are now illegal to sell (and probably use) in Spain although they are still pretty easy to find in chinese shops.
The flashlight one seems like the more “useful” of the two, its the kind of thing that you keep “just in case” but u never really use, and when u do need it, u didnt bring it…

Man, this is awsome. I mean, what’s cooler than listening to your entire music colletion and being able screw around with people (with the laser pointer) with one tiny little device. Now all they need is WiFi.
