Here’s an email that I recently received from Griffin Technology, regarding shipping news about the iFM: “While no firm date yet exists for the iFM, we estimate that we are about 80% completed with the project and will likely get it to market in November.”

November???!!!! I ordered mine (like many, many others) back in early July (I know some of you even ordered before that). Every month it seems to be delayed more. I remember back in the summer one member joked “we may get the iTrips at Christmas if we are lucky!”... Unfortunately it seems more and more likely that will come true!... Doh!

I stand by what I said:
> Griffin Technology has incredibly bad service. They will announce
> that a product will ship on a certain date, then continue saying
> it has been delayed - for literally months. Based on experience
> with the iTrip for the last generation of iPods, expect to get
> your iTrip for the 3G iPod around Christmas 2003.
Griffin Technology (the company) is horrible because they continually state delivery dates, then miss by months. Expect the iTrip by Christmas 2003, but only if you preordered it. If you haven’t ordered it yet, expect it by 2004.

Um, the November date estimate is for the iFM, not the iTrip. iFM lets you listen to radio via your iPod, iTrip lets you listen to your iPod via radio. Two different products. Just because the iFM has been pushed back, doesn’t mean the iTrip is being pushed back again. I got an email just two or three days ago saying early October.

you can thank apple for this. why mess with a good thing. my now “old school” itrip works just fine. leave it up to apple to change the connection so they have the rights to any future gadgets made for ipod as opposed to firewire which is more broadly available.
