Griffin Technology has introduced the TuneBox speaker system for Apple’s iPod shuffle. The $39.99 accessory stands your shuffle between its two speakers, and connects to the device with a 3.5mm stereo jack input (compatible with other MP3 players and devices). It comes with an AC power adapter, charges your shuffle’s battery while it’s playing, and offers total power output of 2+2 watts.
“TuneBox’s micro drivers and efficient amplified speakers generate a powerful, dynamic sound, with unexpected clarity and great highs and lows,” says Griffin. “TuneBox keeps the shuffle’s clickwheel controls up front within easy reach. With a space investment of less than 4 square inches, TuneBox delivers impressive sound and functionality.”

Unreal! Looks like the creativity is gone from Griffin. They made a copycat product. See

What next Griffin? What product are you going to copy next?
Shame shame shame

phunkadelic, i have a feeling it was centrios that copyed the product. in the past they have copyed many other things, but not all are on the site. for example, they copyed the cube speakers (made after pacific rim did), and even the bluetooth headphones look VERY similar to the ones pacific rim made (cant find a pic but they are in the free ipod book, not the back to school edition), and they even have a speaker set that looks just like altec lansings, minus the dock connector (you can see it here http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=MP3Accessories&product=1419562)

ipodlova,
*I* have a feeling that it’s the SAME product, probably made by one or the other, or even by another company, then labeled appropriately and sold by different vendors.
The wonders of badge engineering.

Does no one really know that Centrios is just a name that Circuit City uses to brand it’s one products. Most retailers do it. This way they never have to match someone elses price. You can only get Centrios at Circuit City. You can only get Kirkland Signature at Costco and so on and so on.
Centrios does not make a thing. They have things made to their spec and have their name put on it.

This is probably a product that Griffin picked up from some Asian OEM and just re-branded. There is nothing proprietary about the design. It’s just a USB port and a mini-stereo plug connected to some speakers and a power supply.
Don’t get your panties all in a twist. This sort of thing happens a lot in the computer biz.
