Griffin Technology said today that its AirBase Stand for Apple’s AirPort Express Base Station is now shipping to customers. The $24.99 product raises the AirPort Express to increase effective range and efficiency. It also positions the device’s status light for easier checking.
“Apple’s award-winning industrial design merits more than being plugged into a wall socket and hidden away,” says Griffin. “The AirBase makes an elegant artistic statement that compels you to display it on the desk, shelf or entertainment center. It offers some major functional benefits, as well.”

,, and let’s take that nice design and turn it upside down. It may look nice when it’s all alone, but when you plug in USB cords and speakers, there’s a reason why it’s meant to be hidden. Griffin makes great products though, but file this one under “iBeam.”

I think this is a pretty neat product, I would like to have my AE up off of the powerstrip. But, I’m not about to pay 25 bucks for it, I’ll just buy a 75 cent extention cable

Actually, it’s a clever idea. Give’s you more flexiblity of where you place it, better if you’ve used most of your outlets by your computer and have short ethernet cords, and doesn’t leave it lying on the ground waiting to be kicked and unplugged.

funny how they don’t show a picture of how it’ll look when the airport is actually used (ethernet, usb, and audio out). won’t look to pretty to me.
wonder if the ibook/powerbook/ipod charges can fit in too?

i just received this stand and although it’s value is mostly cosmetic, it does look very good, well made, and provides some convenience by making airport extreme placing more flexible. glad i got it
