Griffin Technology announced today that its iFM is now shipping. The small aluminum device integrates an FM radio tuner, voice and radio recorder, and remote control functions. The iFM functions as a remote for 3G/4G iPods and iPod minis and features a digital FM radio with a band-switch function to switch between US, European and Japanese FM bands. It also lets you record radio content and, using a built-in omnidirectional microphone, voice memos. Radio and voice recordings (3G/4G models supported) are automatically saved to the iPod. The iFM sells for $49.99. Griffin said that a version of the iFM that is compatible with Apple’s new iPod nano will be available in November.

Does this mean the nano can voice record?

yeah it does unless the nano version is smaller and cuts it out.
I really wish that they would have made if very small so that it isn’t as big as an ipod!
I would have been happy with just a fm radio. I’ve been wanting one for the ipod for a long time

The nano can’t record, that facility was taken out of the nano when it was “upgraded” from the mini. It just goes to show that the popularity of the ipod is greatly “looks” driven. Take a mini, reduce its functionality, reduce its storage and sell it for the same price as a nano

I would like to see what kind of setting you could use to record. Does the iFM record in wave? AIFF? MP3? AAC? Can you choose mono or stereo mode? I wish to see the manual guide before buying one of these. Anyone could help?

finally receive white version ifm from griffin after backorder awhile back.
this version have that little metal contacts next to microjack to record on full size ipod, wont work on mini or nano.
fm reception appears good with earphones connected.
user guide is just the orange color backing from the package behind the clear plastic tray. it state recording is in 8khz 16-bit mono wav.
hope that helps

The nano CAN record. It just doesn’t have the aux. jack for it. It sounds liike thenew iFM will allow the nano to do that.
