The iBreath is a new iPod accessory that purports to combine an alcohol breathalyzer and an FM transmitter. “Just fold out the BAC blow wand and exhale into it for a full 5 seconds. 5 seconds later, this jail-saving gizmo let’s you know if you’re safe to drive,” says David Steele, the company selling the product. “It even houses a timer that can be set from 1 minute up to 4 hours in order to remind you when it’s time for the next test. And if keeping you out of the pokey isn’t enough, this cool gadget doubles as a wireless FM transmitter to beam your tunes directly to any FM stereo.”

To commenter number 4…BAC of .12 isn’t too bad. I blew a .15 when I get my DUI!

Great idea, I believe I will start drinking so I can use one.

Frankly I think most of you guys are getting worked up over a gadget…calm down. My parents gave me a breathalyzer when I turned 21 and I loved it. Besides determining who was driving home, on those nights you just wanted to get drunk and take a cab home, it made for a fun bar game with your friends, like whoever is the drunkest after an hour buys the next round.

To commenter number 21, in most states the legal limit is .08% so having a BAC of .12% or .15% is nearly twice the legal limit.

Just because you have one (or are thinking about getting one) doesn’t mean you’re addicted. I just recently got a dui and wished I had one that night! I had 7 drinks in 7 hours & blew .14%. And btw, I was not “drunk as hell”. I didn’t even have a buzz. I don’t think I want one now though because you can be under .08, and still get a dui. I’d be so paranoid to have even one that I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy it.
