All of these systems seem very interesting. Good solid design, with very attractive features.
I would considering getting one of these today, but will wait for a full review by iLounge.

I am considering a JVC Kaboom Box, but this boombox seems to be just what I’m looking for. I can’t wait to hear a review of it. Hint to iLounge: Compare the sound quality of these two similarly laid out systems, I’m sure everyone would like to know the differences! Especially me.

james;
I have a JVC Kaboom Box myself. It’s one of the best things I own. Very rugged, durable, versatile, and the sound is excellent. Can’t really ask for much more in a BOOM Box. If they stuck an iPod Dock in it, I would seriously buy a whole new one. For now though, it has a remote control pocket in the shoulder strap that fits my iPod perfectly.
I was interested in either of the two smaller ones for my office.
iMac + Soundsticks & iSub for Home office.
Kaboom Box for close travel and outdoors.
Logic3 i-station for further traveling.

I’d like to see a review on the IHMD8816DT.. I’ve been looking for a good stereo for my room that I could dock my iPod with, and that looks pretty good for the price.. as long as it sounds good.

I sell the Ilive the round one. Great price at $99.99, with a cd player, AM/FM radio, battery and ac power. Speakers are ok, but they need to improve them to handle the volume.

Nice products, but the names are a mouthful…
Just imagine -
“Hey, nice iPod speaker ya got there! What kind is it?”
“Oh, this little baby? Just the a vintage IHM8327467294CA..”
I’d like to have been in the executive room with the guys when they decided on those names…

I owned the tube shaped boombox (IHMD816DT). The sound isn’t too bad for use outside by the pool etc, but if youre looking to listen to it a lower volumes dont bother, the hiss is pretty bad. I tried listening to it in my office and at home and its quite loud, overpowering some music at times...it hisses bad during CD play too. At $99 its not bad poolside...but thats about it. Hope that helps...There are a few more quirks about that system, but i know sound is the most important…

Sorry, one more thing. The boombox is listed at $129.99, but you can find it for $79.99, also one in Black too on Amazon, but it’s never in stock.

Hope this isn’t considered advertising, just trying to help out. haha

I tried out the IHMD816DT (tube shape) at Best Buy. In my opinion it sounds HORRIBLE. Really, really bad.

I was trying to figure out if the IHMD8816DT has an alarm clock or not. iLive’s site was not too helpful.

wow…
Such nice, friendly names that a person can fondly remember and take to heart. Perhaps they could also include the production batch and serial numbers to give them that *special* touch, since they’re already at it.

I just got the ICR6806DT clock radio & I am pulling my hair out. It is a great little unit, with very good sound quality - no hissing to speak of. The radio is great as well. However, I can’t change the default ON volume. Whenever you turn the unit on it blares out at a very loud level (either ipod or radio). Has anyone found a fix for this problem? The same problem presents with the alarm being excessively loud as well.

I purchased the iLive IHMD816DT but can’t get it to control my 5 gen 80g iPOD by remote or front control. I can hear the iPOD but have to control it by the iPOD itself. Am I missing something about setting it or my iPOD up? Has anyone out there been successful with an 80g iPOD and this stereo?

I just recently purchased the IHMD816DT speaker system and i haveto say the soundd quality is pretty good. It has deep bass that set at a volume of 15 / 30 you can hear the bass downstairs. My room is pretty big and the sound quality is good enough for me. I don’t recieve any hissing from the internal amp. The system seems to go pretty loud and if you have rockbox on your ipod http://www.rockbox.org/ the sound quality of the speaker dock is far more enjoyable and deeper bass with out distortion. I enjoy using the timer feature on it which acts as an alarm to wake up to in the morning. You can wake up to your ipod music, cd music or radio. However when it wakes you up, it truly wakes you up. I love the fact that ilive provided a strap for the system to carry it around on a long distant walk. I carry this system to the basketball court and crank up the music and play ball. Perfect system for me where ever i go. I get alot of compliments on the system alot on it’s looks and a good amount on it’s sound. It basically matters where you place the system and how your eq is set on your ipod. I use the sleep function every night since i watch tv on my mce computer. I have this system powered on for about 9 hours everyday for a month so far and i have to say not one problem so far and i take it alot of the places i go. Especially to the courts every day and with all this movement the system is still in perfect condition. I love this system and couldn’t ask for more from a ipod docking system.
