Aloha friends, If you can make it to Datavision store party right on if not i will be starting two live MPEG-4 QuickTime feeds for remote access using http transport to get through most firewalls. There will be an audio only 34Kbps feed and a 230Kbps Video feed for broadband users. If you want to check your QuickTime configuration for the show try my site

I just got back, it was pretty crowded, compusa would have been a better choice for this event. The live entertainment (rappers, a female r&b;vocalist, dj’s playing techno) in the back of the store was pretty bad imo. I did manage to win a totally worthless prize, 4 tickets to Jersey Girl, a movie that I have no intention of watching not to mention the fact that its out of the theaters in the NYC area. Okay I’m done ranting now.

I was one of the lucky winners today. I won a brand new pair of custom made ultimate ears UE-5c’s. These babies retail for $550, not including the cost of having your ears custom molded. i would say I came out with atleast $700 earphones. WHOA!
This was a blessing. I hate my damn apple ear buds. They are HORRIBLE. I am up to my 4th pair.
Anyways...just thought I’d share a little.
Cheers,
CAS

SIGH. I wanted a pair of those earphones. Why did they stick that thing in your mouth while it was molding the ear piece?

Did you meet any one of the iSkin team?

Some of the girls from the iSkin team were HOT!!!!! There were these 2 black girls there that looked simply deliscious. There were some Asian and white models too, but could compare to the girls I mentioned earlier.
That piece for the mouth helped get a better impression of your ear canal. I forget all the technical details she told me, but that was the bottom line.
I also got a really cool animated tough man iPod airbrushed onto a t-shirt.
Cool stuff,

I got there at 6 and the place was packed. It was REALLY disorganized. You had to wait to get in, only to have to wait 5 minutes just to check in your bag because the store staff was milling about behind the counter rather than, gee, taking the damn bag.
All the sponsors were jammed around a tiny table, where the raffle bin was. There were a million people standing around waiting for new raffle slips to be brought out (the store ran out), and Datavision started the raffles without people getting a chance to put in slips. I waited about 20 minutes and still no new slips were brought out, so I left in disgust. I never spotted any ipodlounge t-shirts (I would have liked one; it’s why I went there in the first place, as I already have sweet Shure E2s and an iSkin). As I left, I passed an Apple rep talking to a store person, stating that when he arrived there were no items to give away in some area, so he was glad that the other sponsors had finally put in their giveaways. Overall it was a really disorganized mess that really made all involved look bad--which is a shame. It sounded like it was going to be cool. Oh well.

I got there ealry knowing it was packed. It was the most disorganized event. When they did the raffles for the iPods you could barely hear the man over the speaker because there was a break dancing group in the back of the store. Everyone was using one table to promote their stuff. The free spray paint t-shirt was a disgrace. I only spotted two people from iskin only b/c they were wearing black shirts with iskin on it, and low rider jeans. I bet that got the men’s attention. Next time iskin does something like this hold it at a bigger store like J&R;. And have everything ready.

i’d say i agree that the party could have been organized better...but I thought i’d comment on the afterparty since no one else has...it was awesome
not only did we get free drinks and food, but me and my friends spent the whole time hanging out with some of the iskin and audible.com people and most importantly the founder of the ipodlounge...all of whom are just the coolest people.......
can’t wait for the next nyc event

Isn’t it amazing how everyone wants to criticize first. I was at the launch, and thought it went quite well. First of all, someone is complaining about the size of the store. The store is HUGE and on 5th Avenue in New York. Did you expect them to take down their entire line of Plasma TV’s, and computers, just to make room for a few people who wanted to get a free t-shirt, and NOT BUY ANYTHING! From what I can imagine, Datavision spent a great deal of money putting this thing together to help promote some Apple iPod accessories, as well as their store. If you thought the music was too loud, perhaps you could have said something. If you did not like how you had to wait to get in, complain to the fire marshall. It was not Datavision’s fault they could not allow everyone in the store.
This also was the only store practically in the country that had iPod MINIS for sale that day.
Datavision is also the only retail store in the country selling the incredible Ultimate Ear headphones. They had an audiologist in the store molding your ears on the spot. That was a $40 value in itself, for FREE.
I just wish people would not complain so much. You did not spend a penny to get in the place, they had great products for you to see first hand, and had a giveaways.
How can you honestly complain about a 2 hour event, with live music, new gadgets, and about $7,000 worth of giveaways?!
I thought it was a well run event, and a treat for any iPod fan!

So you guys.........some of you sound like the party was alright but most of you weren’t really impressed.
I have a question.........if there was another iSkin party...it all happened over again....what do you want it to be like? Which venue? What stuff do you wanna see? Bands? DJ’s? Better give aways? Free downloads? Personalised iSkins? What?! What?! What?!
Let me know your thoughts. You never know...there might be more parties!!!!
