Seventeen iPods! An HDTV! And More! Are You Creative Enough to Win an Amazing Prize?
On October 31, 2008, iLounge will release the 2009 iPod + iPhone Buyers’ Guide, and the winners of two amazing contests will be announced inside.
Contest 1: iProvocateur. For our biggest photo contest ever, we want to see your creative photography! The rules for this contest are simple: submit an original high-resolution photograph (minimum 1600 pixels wide or tall) of an iPod or iPhone in a provocative setting—a person, people, and/or eye-catching background can appear along with the device. Winning entries will be those that are the most stunning or otherwise visually interesting to our editors. You may use an image-editing tool to adjust colors, brightness, rotation and other facets of the photo, however, note that we strongly prefer natural-looking images.
Need some more inspiration? From Webster’s Dictionary: “Provocative: Serving or tending to provoke, excite, or stimulate; exciting.”

To ilounge´s staff:
In the iprovocateur contest I´ve got seen submissions that it isn´t photos. It´s possible to submit drawings, photomontages,... make myself then?. Can i include images of artistic nudes or simply insinuation, always from the good taste?.

That’s a good question - I was wondering that myself. I would _assume_ that the iLounge staff will just disqualify the montages and drawings since the description clearly states photos only, allowing for just mild colour adjustments. But then what do I know - I’m just a doctor, dammit!!!!

#1/#4, the basis of the image must be an original photograph. Anything else will be disqualified. And “no use of others’ images is permitted.”

How do I submit my image? Do I fill out the form, click enter, and then upload my photo? Or do I upload my photo first, then fill out the form and click enter? Thanks!

#7 - Either will work. Just make sure the name of your submission matches in both sections. They’ll match the two using that as basis.

Hi iLounge, quick question…I obviously need to brush up on my reading comprehension, but: when you say, “minimum 1600 pixels wide or tall” do you mean that ONE side of the image has to be at least 1600 pixels, or do you mean that BOTH sides (both width and height) have to be at least 1600 pixels?
Thanks for the clarification!

Hey I was wondering the same question as comment 3, can you win a prize in both contests? and if you can, can you win First in both contests? also can you win two prizes in one contest?

Until someone answers, I’ll answer on their behalf (based on having submitted)
#9 - I believe they mean one side _has_ to be 1600 pixels wide/tall, and then the other under (if not square). If vertical, then “x” by 1600 pixels, and if wide, then 1600 by “x” pixels. At that res, it’ll be enough to print nicely in the pdf newsletter, but not so large that it bogs down submission emails.
#10 - I think we can assume you can win one in each - including first(s), but not more than one prize in one category.

dose that mean the photo is disqualified if its too big or too small?
Posted by Dpollard on October 17, 2008 at 12:35 PM (PST)

#12 - as far as I understand you definitely get disqualified for a too small photo but not for a too big photo, because further up it says, quotation: MINIMUM 1600 pixels.

how can you tell how many pixels it is? that’s what I don’t understand, I’ve seen inches or centimeters for size but never pixels.
Posted by Dpollard on October 18, 2008 at 5:37 PM (PST)
15
if you are using photoshop, you can choose between inches, centimeters or pixels.

Cool I have photoshop, but I figured out that you can right click on the photo and click properties than click details and it tells you the dimensions.

Hi, I uploaded my picture last night around 6:00, and I don’t see it in the gallery at this moment (2:00 PM the day after). Do I need to re-upload my picture?

Hi, I just needed some clarification on the rule “originality of photos” on the Ipod as Art contest.
Can we use generic images that are found on stock image or apple websites as part of an ‘ingredient’?
For example, the entries MusicFlow or Nano Element uses stock image of ipod nano found on apple’s website. Are these entry qualified?
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I uploaded an image last night (10/24/08 around 11:00 Eastern Time) to the “iPod As Art” Contest, but I forgot to submit an Entry Form. Is it okay for me to submit the Entry Form today (10/25/08) and still have my image counted since the contest is already over? Thanks.
