iLounge Exclusive: New iPod revealed
iLounge has snapped exclusive photos of advertisements for the new iPod, which will be introduced today at Apple’s “One more thing” event in San Jose, California. The familiar silhouette posters clearly show an all-new iPod model with a noticeably larger display, approximately 2.5 to 2.6 inches diagonal, compared to the current full-size iPod’s 2-inch screen. Also of note, the headphone jack has been moved from the top-center to the top-right side of the device.

Looks interesting…. although I’d like to know where we are getting measurements on the screen’s size from such a non-technical advertisement. If the screen size was increased to “2.6 inches” and maintained the same aspect ratio, the entire iPod would have to grow significantly in width (the dimension that is now 2.4”).
My interpretation is same width case (2.4”), screen stretched to the absolute edge, but the length of the entire thing decreased from its current 4.1”... this would fit the picture, and I think the last thing Apple would do following the nano would be to make the iPod bigger—simply increasing the screen size of current iPods would do just that. I’d bet you can expect this to be alot thinner than current iPods, as well. We’ll see…

Aww, I was hoping they’d announce the smaller form-factor/larger capacity normal iPods instead.

It sounds cool ... but i think apple is just getting greedy now…..I think apple should slow down and really push the ipod instead of small changes…

John. The messurements for the screen are actually messured diagonally. The ipod hasnt grown a millametre bigger, in actual fact it has shrunk
