iLounge server maintenance
Update: The PHP Accelerator script has been successfully installed. There should be a noticeable difference when loading dynamic pages within the site.
We will be installing PHP Accelerator software on the server to speed up the generation of dynamic content on iLounge.com. The site will be taken offline tommorow, Saturday, April 3rd at 9pm PT and will remain offline for about 3 hours.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but the results should be well worth it.

Yes! Hope the site never comes back on line. Do us all a favour and free up the bandwidth.
This coding of this site is amateurish and the design blatently done by a 12 year old.

Good luck with the new accelerator, guys.

It will actually be 4 hours downtime for us on the East Coaster because Daylight Savings Time occurs at 2AM EST tonight.

Really, Yippee, shut up. Why are you even here if the coding is “amateurish and the design blatently done by a 12 year old”?
Daylight Savings Time sucks.

No I’m an ipodder who just can’t believe what a sad ### kissing community has gathered around something that is at the end of the day just a small electrical appliance.
Sad freaks get over yourselves.
This site is a meeting place for lamers and children who wish they could afford an ipod. The thing ain’t that great. It plays music, end of story…. there’s no great roadmap here about how to better your life.
This site is 90% advertising wrapped up in grey and white boring decor.

I’m sorry you feel that way Yippee. The “90% advertising wrapped up in grey and white boring decor” appearing on iPodlounge are geared toward music enthusiasts and iPod owners, which in our opinion is a good thing and helps pay for the server, software, upgrades, etc. The ads help to inform as well as create a revenue stream for this site. It’s no small feat to pay for and maintain a site which garners nearly 5 million page views and eats up 500+ gigabytes of bandwidth each month.
Think of this site as an iPod Club or User Group, like any that could be in your neighborhood. Instead, iPodlounge is the iPod Club or iPod User Group for the world and there are no membership dues
Everybody is coming together under a common interest to share problems, opinions and exchange ideas. Podlounge will always strive to be the best place for all iPodders to come to.

Amen to that, dennis!! i agree with all of that! Plus, i’ll add one thing that dennis would never say…
If you don’t like it here, leave! We have fun here (thanks to Dennis). Why anyone would feel the need to complain about a fan/usergroup site for merely being a fan/usergroup site is beyond me. If coming together to talk about something you enjoy isn’t your cup of tea, LEAVE!

When it says “dynamic content”, what exactly does that mean? Which pages are dynamic ard which ones aren’t?
Posted by Nuke666 in Melbourne, Austalia on April 4, 2004 at 1:18 PM (PST)

All of iPodlounge.com loads dynamic content using PHP and MySQL databases.

There ain’t nothing dynamic about the news on this content, more “stagnant”.
