iLuv, a division of jWIN Electronics, has introduced several new iPod products, including three new speaker systems, an FM transmitter, a power adapter and an external battery pack.
iLuv i552 ($120; black or white)
The i552 is a portable speaker system with a built-in AM/FM radio and universal iPod dock. It features “jAura” acoustic technology, a multi-function LCD screen, USB port for iPod shuffle compatibility, line input for other audio devices, and comes with a remote control.
iLuv i177 ($110; black or white)
The i177 is a stereo docking system with an integrated clock display with dual alarm functions. It offers the same jAura sound, AM/FM radio, USB connectivity, remote control and backlit LCD screen. The i177 lets users sleep or wake to their iPod, radio, or buzzer.
iLuv i188 ($60; black or white)
iLuv’s i188 is a smaller portable speaker system with universal iPod dock. It features four full-range loudspeakers, line-in audio port and charges your iPod while in use.
iLuv i107 ($30; white only)
The i107 is a foldable battery charger/power adapter for iPods. The multi voltage (110/220v) AC adapter has a USB port and allows you to charge your iPod when not connected to a computer.
iLuv i702 ($25; black or white)
The iLuv i702 is bottom-connecting FM transmitter that lets you listen to the music on your iPod through any FM radio. The i702 tunes FM radio frequencies with the iPod controls and displays frequencies on the iPod’s LCD. The compact device utilizes PLL tuning technology and supports international FM frequency ranges.
iLuv i603/i604 ($84; black, white, pink, blue)
The i603 and i604 are silicone skins with integrated iPod back-up battery packs. They each feature a built-in high-capacity rechargeable lithium polymer battery that extends the playback time of the fifth-generation iPod by up to 55 hours (i604) or up to 42 hours (i603).

Antwan: Correct. The negative comments about iLuv (closed, and the user banned) were from someone affilated with iLuv’s competitor SDI Technologies, maker of iHome. Pretty sad.

With all apologies to Chevy...but it didn’t work for you THEN, either, with that rebadged iZuzu, er, Izuzu pick-up of yours (this ‘i’ thing...words can’t describe how nauseatingly inept this infection has become).

A name is a name is a name. But there ARE some that are too cute for comfort.
I do believe I need to fire up my chain saw right about now…

Just got an i177 (the clock radio with remote). Sound quality is good to my untrained ears; much better than the powered speakers on my computer, better than my previous clock radio.
The Good:
o Sleep timer decreases volume gradually then shuts off the iPod!
o Remote goes to next/previous track, play/pause, controls volume, switches to radio bands, tunes the radio and snoozes the alarm.
o Comes with 5 adapters for the various iPod models and a USB for the Shuttle
o “Sleep” volume is independent of waking volume
o Switching to either radio band pauses the iPod
o Uses backup batteries (2xAA) for power outages
o Loud frickin’ beeper (though if you want to buy an iPod clock radio in order to wake to a beeper, maybe you’re looking at the wrong product)
The Indifferent:
o Dual alarms
o Dimmer has 3 settings (in addition to “off")
o Date displayed
The Irritating:
o Military time; I can’t find the option for AM/PM.
o No radio presets; just the last AM and last FM station.
The Weird and Not Very Good:
o AM tuning doesn’t tune to exact frequencies; it seems to go in 9 kHz steps
Those last issues make me think that perhaps I got a unit designed for the European market (or perhaps the dev team is all ex-military non-AM-radio listeners). I’ve sent iLuv e-mail about these.
Frankly, it looks like a good value to me; looks like a solid design; fairly good bass response, big numerals, nice integration with iPod for listening and waking. I wonder if it’s okay that the iPod is connected to the charger all night… (That’ll be for long-term testing).
One last thing: their e-commerce system is weird—it tags your order with the description of the product, not the model number. This would be okay if they didn’t use the same description for four different products, so I had to e-mail them to tell them the model number that I’d intended to purchase.

I recieved it yesterday. I fully charged both the ipod & the external battery seperately. Video playback didn’t even last 3 hours. As of now “Charging” is displayed on the screen.
24 hours later:
I fully recharged both components again. Same performance. Not even 3 hours. Perhaps I misunderstood the use of this external battery. Does anyone know if this is supposed to be a power source or a charger for the ipods battery? I’ve tried to contact i-luv’s technical support via phone & by e-mail but have not heard from them yet in over 24 hours.
