Images of iPod touch 4G LCD panel with FaceTime camera emerge
New images of what is claimed to be a fourth-generation iPod touch LCD and front panel, with a hole for a front-facing camera, have appeared online. According to Mac Rumors, the photos were sent in by an iPhone parts supplier, and show both the front and back of the panel assembly. In addition, the part is also stamped “Apple (c) 2010” and “April 29, 2010,” indicating that it was built recently. Information provided to iLounge in the last week indicates that Apple plans to release a new iPod touch in the next two months.

Fail… That hole is featured on the iPod Touch 1st, 2nd and 3rd gens as well as the iPad. I have no idea what it’s for but that’s just an LCD screen of an iPod Touch 2nd or 3rd gen. The 1st gen model had a hole more so to the left of the same design. On the iPad it’s directly front and center. It has nothing to do with a camera, I believe it has something to do with Wi-Fi but yeah unless Apple had planned face time on 4 other products in the past, one of which was developed about a year or so before the face time concept was even conceived, then that’s just a hole for some unknown reason. Check for yourself, go out in the sun and look in that exact spot or the top center if you have an iPad.

that is for the sensor for when u turn on the auto brightness feature. it detects how much light is coming in so it knows how bright to make the screen its not for wifi retard. thats the black thing on the back

Yes, he’s retarded for not knowing that the “hole” in gen 1-3 and ipad is light sensor, but also because it wasn’t really a hole in those ones, just a slightly transparent part in the glass panel, this is a hole, and is in a different place, and obviously the news iPod touch will have a front camera retard

Yeah, seriously. It wasn’t a hole in the previous models. Sure, there was a circle near the top of the ldc pannel, but that was a light sensor. The itouch 4g’s lcd has a physical hole drilled into it for a front-facing camera to fit snugly under.
