Apple today gave a sneak preview of iOS 4.2 for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. While the release will bring all of the features from iOS 4.0 to the iPad, it will also include several new features including wireless printing and a revamped AirTunes, which has been renamed AirPlay. AirPlay will allow users to stream audio, videos, and photos from an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad directly to the company’s next-generation Apple TV. iOS 4.2 for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch will be released in November and will be a free update for all capable devices.

Thanks so much, Lucas!
OTOH, for those of us that OWN iPads and support them in the enterprise, this is really good news.
Now - off with you. Start a Zune Social at Starbucks - I’ll wait to see how that goes…

Hey, Zune’s a solid product. I have an iPad and love it to death (need iOS4 nao!), but the Zune software is still the best way to manage and play music, at least in my opinion. Regardless, here’s hoping iTunes 10 or whatever they’re on now will be something actually noteworthy this time.
I have to say, the addition of “social” elements into the new iTunes makes me giggle a bit. Oh Apple, when you get down to it, you’re really just like everyone else.

I can’t wait to have my iPad be upgraded with this iOS 4.2. The hundred new features and enhancement would surely make iPad the coolest gadget in the whole world. The idea is simply awesome playing your most favorite movie in your iPad and having it streamed over Wifi to your friend’s Apple Tv and shown right in his living room. We just have to wait til november for this to come to reality.
