Yesterday’s release of iOS 5.0.1, combined with subsequent updates to Apple’s AirPort routers and Time Capsule network storage products, appear to have fixed the more daunting of two types of AirPlay dropout issues experienced by iPhone 4S users.
While iLounge has been able to verify that the iPhone 4S no longer stops playing after only several seconds of streaming to AirPlay speakers, both the iPhone 4S and other iOS devices continue to experience random dropouts minutes into audio playback.
It remains unclear whether the 5.0.1 update provided any benefit to iPhone 4S users who were experiencing issues but do not have an Apple router, as well as whether firmware updates to AirPlay speakers will be required.
