iOS 6, the upcoming version of Apple’s operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, will offer rewritten versions of the stock applications and Facebook integration, according to a pair of new reports. Citing a source with deep connections to Apple, iDownloadBlog claims that iOS 6 will offer stock applications that feature improved capabilities and some “major surprises”, but will look nearly identical to iOS 5 when looking at the lock or Home screens. “Basically, you wont know it is iOS 6 until you launch apps”, said the source. Separately, TechCrunch reports that iOS 6 will offer Facebook integration. The report claims that the sharing options and interface will likely be very similar to the Twitter integration found in iOS 5, and that the move should allow for more seamless handling of Facebook authentication within applications. Apple is expected to introduce iOS 6 during its keynote address at WWDC on June 11.

Good, the built-in Facebook integration means I can close my worthless Twitter account.
However, iOS still needs an “active standby” widget-based lock screen like Symbian S60v3 offered. It’s one of a few things making iOS look long in the tooth compared to its rivals.
Furthermore, on-screen App management is getting out of hand. Between the sheer number of available apps, and the amount of storage space available to download so many of them, 2-dimensional swiping across pages no longer “just works” when trying to find a specific app. Folders aren’t very helpful in this regard, either.

Greater integration across the board.
Make iPhoto an in app purchase of the photos app that upgrades the icon and the internal features. Include a link to the video app and Stick camera roll videos into the videos app.
Families of data types to share file data. Eg. Different text editors with one text files repository.
iMessage app for windows, photo sharing via an expanded photostream, apple profiles, and groups within contacts would reduce the need for twitter by an apple social network developed in house. A bit of front end discover ability via chomp, and put the emphasis on personal connections rather than commercial and trivial spam. Expand ping beyond music for the commercial aspects. Embed the whole thing into every connected apple device.
The easy social network, embedded in your devices, that values your privacy.
