iPhone 3G 8GB price drops to $99
In an effort to increase the affordability of the iPhone family, Apple has announced that the black 8GB iPhone 3G has dropped in price to $99, following the introduction of the more powerful iPhone 3GS model today. It is unknown whether any changes have been made to the $99 iPhone 3G model as it has fallen in price; Apple occasionally makes undisclosed tweaks to its devices or their pack-ins coincident with price drops. We will update this story with additional details as they become available.

I’m not opposed to a price drop. But another substantial price drop like the initial release is staggering. The worse part about the drop is of course I like others recently (last 30 - 40 days) purchased the 3G. I can only hope that Apple will “value” this unique group and provide a “rebate” similar to 2007.

Seriously! My 3G is not even 2 months old and ATT will not give me a rebate! ATT is the WORST company I have been with! I will not renew my contract or ever use ATT again. I’d rather wait for the Verizon Iphone or buy the Palm Pre! I suggest you do the same!

What’s about that contract? I can only purchase the $99 iPhone 3G if i have that 2-year contract? I can’t really understand!!!!

I just purchased a 16G a week ago. I asked the ATT rep at the store if I should wait for the Apple announcement and was told there would be nothing new, just a software upgrade that I would be able to do on-line. True, but I’m still within my 30 days to cancel, so question is will they “play nice” or be hard nosed about letting me swap for the 32G?
