iPhone being released on June 11?
CNET News.com’s Gadget Blog claims that Apple’s iPhone will be available on June 11th. “Ever since Steve Jobs’ keynote at the Macworld Expo in January, we’ve known that the iPhone is being released sometime in June. But we haven’t known exactly when,” the site reports. “Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn’t have any additional information beyond that.” The date corresponds with the opening day of Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference in San Francisco.

FWIW, customer service is 6-1-1.

This is the sort of thing I’m sure Apple hates working with partners for its products. Some idiot at Cingular didn’t read the “Shut Up or Die” memo from Apple, and allegedly blabbed the release date. It disrespects all the work thousands of people have put into the launch of the product. I have a feeling a certain person no longer works for a certain company, if Jobs has anything to do about it.

Galley,
611 only works if you’re calling from a Cingular cell phone. Otherwise, you’ll be calling your cellular provider’s CS.
Was this just one CS rep? Because I’m pretty sure CS reps have lied before.
