iPhone now on display at UK’s Computer Warehouse
Offering residents of the United Kingdom an opportunity to try out the iPhone for themselves, UK-based Apple reseller Computer Warehouse has sent out an e-mail and updated its website to note that the company has an 8GB iPhone on display at its Brentford showroom. Although it remains unknown what carriers will offer the iPhone in the UK, it is possible that Apple could sell the iPhone through Apple Authorized Resellers such as Computer Warehouse, or again rely exclusively upon its own retail locations and those of its European partners. Since Apple’s retail presence in Europe is limited by comparison with the United States, a wider early rollout to resellers is a legitimate possibility.

Is anyone in the UK actually thrilled at the thought of the iphone being available over here? Maybe it can get away with its limitations in the US but with the UK having much more of a 3g coverage and MMS being a lot more popular I really cant see this selling as well as it did in the US.
On average I send 50mms per month (as do many pepole I know) and have had only 3g phones for the last 3years, theres no way I could go back to a device that cant handle both of these, no matter how slick and sexy it is to look at and use.

To answer SteveS.
Yes I think the European market needs the iPhone. My supposed wunderphone the N95 has proved to be an unreliable nightmare which is practically unusable. Pretty much all of the latest phones are horrible to use because of their lousy interfaces.
When I got to play with one in the US I was astounded with how easy it was to use the iPhone. All of a sudden, Symbian and Windows interfaces felt incredibly clunky and ill-designed for their purpose.
The iPhone is in a league of its own there.
Having said which, a 2G iPhone is going to have a much harder time in the UK than it’s had in the US; many of us are used to 3G speeds already, so this would be a backwards step.
But the most important bit? Come on Apple, tell us something - anything - about the UK launch, when and how much would be nice to know. The US got six months to prepare; if Apple take that long to get it out here they’ll be shipping a phone in the post-Christmas slump.
